Looking for a good book to gift to a friend, read over the holidays, or add to your 2021 book list? Check out these top picks from our Grace staff!

Some of the best books I’ve read this year: Biblical Psychology: Christ-Centered Solutions for Daily Problems by Oswald Chambers, and I re-read The Life of God in the Soul of Man by Henry Scougal for the dozenth time. Our entire staff team also read The Ideal Team Player by Patrick Lencioni, and it’s excellent!

-Mike Adkins, Senior Pastor

My top recommendations this year are Hoping for Happiness by Barnabas Piper and The Patient Ferment of the Early Church by Alan Kreider. The latter is a heavy read, but definitely worth it in today’s climate.

-Kelly Adkins, Grace Experience Director

The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Comer was so perfect for this year! I also enjoyed Risen Motherhood by Emily Jensen and Laura Wifler. Both were easy reads, and so helpful in this season.

-Stephanie Ellison, Oviedo gK! Director

Back in January, I read Atomic Habits by James Clear, and I’m revisiting it again as we close out this crazy year. Such a great reminder that the habits we build are what shapes us the most over time.

-Rick Garrett, Executive Pastor

This year I’ve read two books by Andrew Naselli that I highly recommend: No Quick Fix and Conscience: What It Is, How to Train It, and Loving Those Who Differ.

-Clint Harrison, Oviedo Campus Pastor

My favorite book this year was Strengthening the Soul of Your Leadership by Ruth Barton. It’s an incredible book for anyone in Christian leadership. I also learned a lot about grief and lament from Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy by Mark Vroegop.

-Jeanne Harrison, Staff Writer

Discipline, the Glad Surrender by Elisabeth Elliot is such a good reminder that obedience, sacrifice, and the renewing of our minds is at the core of becoming who Jesus calls us to be.

-Kayla Jeffers, Oviedo GraceStudents Director

I’ve had a bunch of people ask me what’s a good Bible to read this year. I’ve been reading and loving the She Reads Truth Bible. Also, the devotional New Morning Mercies by Paul David Tripp has been a game changer for me.

-Rachel Jesubakthan, gK! Director

Pick up Garden City by John Mark Comer. Check out this quote from the book, “Figure out what the work is God gave you to do and learn the art of saying no to good things.” We could all grow in that!

-Grant Nixon, Winter Garden Campus Pastor

My favorite book this year has been Get Out of Your Head by Jennie Allen, with It’s Not Supposed to Be This Way by Lisa TerKeurst and Parenting by Paul David Tripp following closely behind!

-Angela Nixon, Winter Garden Guest Services

My top picks this year are Liturgy of the Ordinary by Tish Warren, Deeply Formed Life by Rich Villodas, and Atomic Habits by James Clear.

-Mike Price, Network Worship Pastor

One of my favorites this year was None Like Him by Jen Wilkin. I read that for a Grace Women’s Bible Study and learned so much from it! Another good one is Embraced: 100 Devotionals to Know God is Holding You Close by Lisa Terkeurst.

-Kelley Reinoehl, Assistant gK! Director

I highly recommend Parenting with Scripture by Kara Durbin.

-Mark Vuckovic, Oviedo Connections Pastor
