We don’t just celebrate Christmas; we spend weeks getting ready for it.
We decorate our homes. We buy gifts, plan meals, invite people around our tables, and count down the days.
Advent reminds us that God’s people have always been a people preparing—not simply for a holiday, but for a Person.
This year, our Advent series, Make Room, invites us to prepare for the God who comes. Over these weeks, we’ll practice paying attention to where God is at work, preparing our hearts, joining Him in His mission, and surrendering ourselves again to Him.
That invitation feels especially meaningful in this season at Grace.
This fall, we’ve spent time looking toward the future through The Here for Good Project—asking God how we can faithfully steward what He has entrusted to us and create space for more people to experience the hope of Jesus for generations to come.
And now, Advent brings us back to the heart of it all: a Savior who came near to us. His coming reminds us that God’s love was never meant to stop with us. We have the opportunity to extend that love to others — making room in our lives, our church, and our community.
Where might God be inviting us to make room for Him and others this season?
My prayer is that through the full calendars, familiar traditions, celebrations, and even the parts of this season that may feel difficult, we would slow down enough to notice God’s presence and respond to Him with open hearts.
Grace, I’m grateful we get to celebrate Christmas together. May this be a season where we make room for all God wants to do in and through us.
