"Thank Him for giving you a seat of honor though you don’t deserve it. Allow yourself to rest in His goodness and supremacy."

“Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature” (Genesis 2:7).
Close your eyes and take several deep, steadying breaths. Imagine God Almighty stooping down to breathe life into dust. This is your origin story. You were created intimately and intentionally.

“By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust and to dust you shall return” (Genesis 3:19).
Because of the fall, dust is not only mankind’s origin story; it is our destiny. One day our bodies will return to dust as our spirits enter eternity with God. Think of all the temporary concerns that consume your attention. Close your eyes and meditate on the words, “From dust to dust.” One by one, surrender your earthly concerns to God as you consider the transience of life.
***
“As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust” (Psalm 103:13-14).
Praise God for regarding you with compassion! You are free to be fragile and finite in His presence because He is a good Father. Take a moment to sit silently in His love.

“The Lord makes poor and makes rich; He brings low and He exalts. He raises up the poor from the dust; He lifts the needy from the ash heap to make them sit with princes and inherit a seat of honor” (I Samuel 2:7-8).
Close by reflecting on the sovereignty of God. Think of all the times He has lifted you from the ash heap. Thank Him for giving you a seat of honor though you don’t deserve it. Allow yourself to rest in His goodness and supremacy.
