The story of Grace Counseling is one of remarkable vision, growth and dedication

This journey began with Pastor Mike Adkins of Grace Church’s vision of opening a professional counseling center in Central Florida.

Prior to becoming a pastor, Mike was a licensed therapist and has always been passionate about mental health care.

Grace Counseling Center Timeline

In 2018

Discussions about starting Grace Counseling began, involving a diverse group of professionals, counselors, and people with a heart for counseling. Two licensed therapists volunteered their services, leading to the offering of professional counseling one evening a week.

Early 2019

the counseling team grew to three therapists, quickly reaching capacity. By September, they expanded to a full day and four therapists. The growth was consistent, meeting a growing demand for services in the community. During this time, therapists were using available space within Grace Church.

In 2021

Grace Counseling continued to grow, adding more therapists and serving an increasing number of clients.

January 2022

By January 2022, they reached almost double the number of clients they had seen in their first year.

In 2022

In 2022, Grace Counseling had nearly 4,800 appointments with 12 therapists.

March 2022

Then, March 2020 arrived, and the pandemic hit. The counseling service briefly shifted to virtual counseling for about three months, but when they returned to in-person counseling, the demand surged. By October, they were accommodating close to 200 appointments, and creativity in using unconventional office spaces became necessary.

July 2022

Recognizing the need for more space, in July 2020, Grace Church decided to renovate a warehouse on the campus to create a dedicated counseling center. This project was completed in December 2020, just in time to handle the significant increase in appointments.

In 2023

The team has expanded to 15 therapists, seeing about 50 clients per day and projecting over 7,500 appointments for the year.
