Almighty God, you have created us out of the dust of the earth: Grant that these ashes may be to us a sign of our mortality and penitence, that we may remember that it is only by your gracious gift that we are given everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

Ash Wednesday is the traditional beginning of Lent, a 40-day season of preparation and repentance during which Christians anticipate Good Friday and Easter. Grace is observing Lent this year so that we might be intentionally grateful for the cross of Christ and to desire that others would be drawn to the sacrifice and victory that happened there. (What is Lent?)

The Ash Wednesday service is a simple 30-minute corporate expression of prayer and worship that begins the period of Lent.
